sane version, used distribution.
Beside that, your systemd command seems not correct, as "...invalid
argument". Please check the manuals to systemd/sysctrl and the content of
the involved saned.socket definitions.

The SANE version in common Linux flavors is 1.0.25, that has nothing to-do
with scanimage which, I am sure, have a higher version number (whatever
that mean to you)
The recent version of SANE is AFAIK 1.0.26

I installed the drivers from Canon Website for Linux.
Configured the appropriate permissions to access the scanner device via USB.
What works:
