It's ok with me, having a well known and used interface for pull/merge
requests and on top support for mobile in either web and app form, I do
really appreciate. So let's go to girls.com! *Backpack shouldered*

Thank Ralph, if you can dig into this, that will be really great. I agree,
tour assumptions regarding same hardware base do make sense. I hope, Canon
engineers had the same idea. ;)

Just give me a hint, if you like to have some debug output to compare from
the model I use when you have time.

[sane-devel] Broken ADF-support in pixma-backend: devs needed

2017-10-12 Thread Jörn-Ingo Weigert
Hello list!

Since the changes between 1.0.25 to recent 1.0.27 version of Sane it turns
out, that the ADF support for most (if not all) Canon pixma models like
Maxify AIO printers are broken.

Rolf Bensch, maintainer for the pixma-backend, told me that he is too much
involved in other projects, so there is less time to get involved into the
ADF issue and also, he have less experience in this topic.

So I'm looking for an developer here who can help on fixing the ADF.

As it turns out, the use of ADF end in a (silent) segfault when using a
graphic frontend. In result, Simple scan / XSane try to scan but after a
short time the scan progress get cancelled. The ADF does not react in any
way, neither try to move the document nor moving the scan line to the ADF
scan position.

Since this is a long standing behaviour, it would be great, when someone
take a heart and want to dive in to fix it.

Kind regards,

Jörn-Ingo Weigert

Re: [sane-devel] Mustek A3 scanner on Linux Mint 18

2017-02-04 Thread Jörn-Ingo Weigert
Hi Derek,

first check if your user in the group who is able to access the Scanner
device. Simply, check with root user (sudo) and the sane tools if they find
and list the scanner. If yes, depending on your distribution, add your user
to the group which can access the device, usually the "scanner" group.

Some scanner needs additional propriate drivers from the vendor, in this
case Mustek, to work correctly.

Hope this help,

Re: [sane-devel] (no subject)

2016-12-14 Thread Jörn-Ingo Weigert
Hi juntjoo, it would help when you give us some more details, like used
sane version, used distribution.

Beside that, your systemd command seems not correct, as "...invalid
argument". Please check the manuals to systemd/sysctrl and the content of
the involved saned.socket definitions.

Hi it's me again. Don't know if you gave up on me but I am trying again
from the beginning. I have scanned via USB and now am attempting to get it

   Execute at a terminal:

   sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/saned.socket

but when I opened up this terminal there was

"run=yes

exit"

and I pasted your instructions in between those lines not knowing if I was
supposed to or paste over them both. Was I right?

And then down to step three:

Step 3: Tell saned who to share with

Assuming you don't need to control access to the scanner, we will add the
line "192.168.0.0/24" (share with everyone on the local network) after "##
Access list":

## Access list192.168.0.0/24

I did this part but you explained in the beginning we were assuming that my
network address is 192.168.0.1. I don't know if this is the case or if I
need to worry about it. Do I or is this a default network address? Could
this be why I'm having problems?

Then I went to step 4 "clean up tasks:". Maybe I went too far but I did it
anyway and got this:

ben@Hal:~$ sudo systemctl enable saned.socket
Failed to execute operation: Invalid argument
ben@Hal:~$ sudo systemctl start saned.socket
Failed to start saned.socket: Unit saned.socket is not loaded properly:
Invalid argument.
See system logs and 'systemctl status saned.socket' for details.

Well I think I've gone far enough and will wait for your instruction.
Would love to get this scanner wireless.
Thanks

The SANE version in common Linux flavors is 1.0.25, that has nothing to-do

The recent version of SANE is AFAIK 1.0.26

[sane-devel] saned bind failed. adress already in use

2016-04-29 Thread Jörn-Ingo Weigert
Hello List,

I've a problem that saned, which worked good on ver 1.0.24?, after the
latest updates failed to bind on the IP-Adresses given and used succesfully
before.

My system (server): Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
IP: 192.168.2.10
SANE(d): 1.0.25/26-git
Connected Scanner: Canon Maxify MB2050

Attached the config files I used to provide the scanner to the clients on
the network
IPs: 192.168.2.11 - .13

Client systems are Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but with Sane 1.0.25-git but I dont
thing this problem is client related as the daemon faild to start with
upper error message.

I tried also to use the git version 1.0.26-git from Rolf-Bensch but it
doesnt help.

This drive me nuts are there anything I can provide to fix this problem?

Kind regards,

Ingo Weigert

[sane-devel] Canon Maxifiy MB2000 series

2015-10-25 Thread Jörn-Ingo Weigert
I can report that sane does support the rudimentary scanning with the Canon
Maxify MB2000 series MFP printer under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

I installed the drivers from Canon Website for Linux.
Configured the appropriate permissions to access the scanner device via USB.

What works:
- Scanning in 300 / 600dpi works from Flatbed with Ubuntu own Simple Scan
and XSane

What does not work:
- Scanning over / with ADF: The Scanner recognize that there comes a
command (display lights up, showing "Process command..." but does NOT
activate the feeder or start to scan. :-(
Scanning via Canon own tool scangear works on both flatbed and adf scan.

- Scanning in higher resolution like 1200dpi / 2400dpi result in a doubled
interlaced scanning image, however the scan themself work but result in bad
image.
