Position: MS System Administrator Location: Albany, NY Duration: 18 Months Rate: Market Rate Mandatory Requirements: 1. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in developing and remotely deploying Windows PC workstation images and operating systems. 2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience creating software installation packages for remote deployment to Windows PCs and laptops. 3. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the utilization of all features of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to manage enterprise workstations and laptops. 4. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in deploying and supporting Microsoft Windows XP workstations across an enterprise of at least 500 PCs. 5. Minimum of two (2) years experience in the administration of Active Directory and using Group Policies to manage and secure workstations. Desirable Experience: 1. Configuring and administration of Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 (experience can include beta and release candidate versions) 2. Deployment, integration, and support of smartphones with an enterprise wireless network and Microsoft Exchange 2007 Job Description: The Information Management Solutions (IMS) division of the NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities is seeking an administrator with technical expertise in technologies related to the deployment, administration, and support of Microsoft based workstations. The primary focus of the candidate selected will be on delivering and maintaining solutions to enterprise desktop managements needs. Besides being able to design and provide solutions to new challenges, the ideal candidate will already possess an advanced, demonstrable working knowledge in the following areas: 1. Developing and deploying workstation images and operating systems 2. Creating software installation packages for remote deployment to PCs and laptops 3. Utilizing all features of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager in the management of enterprise workstations 4. Maintaining Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems 5. Leveraging Active Directory Group Policies to manage and secure workstations Candidates should also possess experience in establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with the end-user community and IT management in an effort to provide solutions. This includes gathering and documenting business and functional requirements. It is preferred that candidates have a working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, wireless networking, and enterprise deployment and support of Microsoft Office 2007 including Outlook. It is also desirable that candidates will have experience in supporting and integrating Smartphones with wireless networks and Microsoft Exchange. This position is not a helpdesk or direct end-user support position but will be an escalation point for critical desktop and end-user support issues.
