Development work is typically creating new enterprise-level applications and/or services to support a business need. Production support work is focused on maintaining and/or supporting existing applications; work is typically centered on enhancements to the existing application and responding to user problems and issues with the application. The Software Engineer creates software code using OO Technologies on the ASP.NET <http://ASP.NET> platform in all layers of N-tiered web application development. Work categories for the ASP.NET <http://ASP.NET> Software Engineer role include designing solutions, analyzing efficiencies, performing coding including uniting testing, database development, supporting functional testing, debugging, documentation, scheduling/managing new application releases and/or updates, configuring/deploying the application/system update for implementation, ongoing maintenance, and to provide consultation to other web programmers throughout the company on design and development strategies.* *1. Designs, develops, codes, tests, and debugs complex new software products, or makes significant enhancements to existing software.* *2. Researches and integrates design strategies, product specifications, development schedules, and user expectations into product capabilities.* *3. Resolves complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.* *4. Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.* *5. Researches emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.* *6. Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.* *7. Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issues.* *8. Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.* *9. Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress.* *10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers.* *11. May serve as a technical team or task leader.* *12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.* *13. Participates in special projects as required.* *14. Create and document detail design specifications and unit test cases to ensure that all business and functional requirements are met.* *15. Compose technical design documentation.* *16. Code and implement solutions based on detail design specifications* *17. Adhere to coding standards, code reviews & TDD methodology - executing tests through use of automated tools such as nUnit.* *18. Implement third-party libraries to extend the functionality of the applications.* *19. Adapt to shifting priorities.* *20. Provide mentoring to junior developers both on and off the team.* *21. Provide project effort estimations.* *22. Communicate effectively with several technical and non-technical groups both internally and externally.* *23.
