Anything I can do, apart from going back to PHP 7.4?

Do Gnusocial site maintainers need to run housekeeping scripts? Or is
this all included? Things like, clean out old messages, clear caches,
remove stale things...

Is there a way for GNU-Social to allow it to run on systems that already
have PHP-Pear installed?
For example, can the Pear functionality required by GNU-Social separated
from what is packaged in, say, Debian's PHP-Pear?
I've managed to get GNU-Social installed on 'testing' servers
This installation is on a newly downloaded version of PiOS on a
Raspberry. For some reason it ran mariadb-server-10.0 (from Jessie). I
purged that, installed the bullseye version (mariadb-10.5) redid the
installation, and now it works.

Now that I have GNU Social Master, running, I wanted to do the same for
Nightly. It's the ActivityPlugin that interests me. If that works,
GnuSocial is, IMHO, the easiest server instance to get up and running.
At the same time, redoing an install would help me draft a text on how
to do
