We have lost the admin password set in original utconfig setup. Is
there any way to set a new password without knowing the old one?

You can recover it by running utpw -p [1] as root and you can change
it with utpw.

to retrieve the old password. Works on solaris.

Yes, it's just rot13, but at least the file is only readable by root.
You have to love the simple things ;-)
