Users in a chatroom not showing

The panel on the right of a chat showing the number of people in a room and listing their names has disappeared. The FAQ ..see list of users in a chatroom says to use the /users command. But that command only gives Unknown command. Upgrading from 2.9.something to 2.10.1 made no difference.

Facebook Group Chat in Pidgin
