Verify the version you're using in buddy list -> help menu -> plugin information. If it doesn't start with 0.9.3 or 2017[...] it's the wrong one. Ensure you don't have any copies of the dll in the same directory. If you can't find anything old and it still doesn't work, you can always uninstall

system are you using? Facebook dropped XMPP support (which Pidgin uses) a while ago and seems to have finally shut it off in the past day or two. They only use a custom closed protocol now. James Geboski is adding support for it as a Google Summer of Code project. Last I heard, it was already usable

I didn't see anything on the developer's chat page about a replacement for xmpp. I suspect someone will try to reverse engineer messenger's protocol, and I hope they succeed. But even if they get something workable, it still won't be as good as an api provided by and openly documented by Facebook
