ICQ works perfectly fine here ( pidgin-2.10.0-2.mga2 on Mageia Linux
As has been said, ICQ works perfectly. I have pidgin 2.9 on Ubuntu
Linux 10.04 LTS. Try to:
-- switch off clientLogin;
-- switch off all encryption;
-- use server login.icq.com

see anything in there that there would indicate anything we would want
to be notifying people about. The problem with ICQ logins is related
to the Use SSL setting in pidgin. With it on pidgin does not in all
cases work
