Time is not my friend with this project.

So I searched and ordered CS3 (with training DVD) from softwareking.com.
Next day, it came to $321.94 (boss's credit card). The folks there seem
nice and said I would have unlimited support and the only difference
buying it from them is it's cheaper.

Basically the higher ups want me to slightly modify existing documents.
Mostly search and replace type stuff. I've had a couple other times where
I needed InDesign. So this, being the main reason, isn't the only reason
for buying it.

Cheers,
Dan--Ft. Lauderdale

Dan, you should inquire either with the vendor or with Adobe about
upgrading to ID CS4, which is officially shipping now. You shouldn't
have to pay more than the shipping cost.

Some of the new features for technical writing are conditional text
and cross-references. If you need to share documents with the authors
who create in an earlier release, you can save to an interchange
format, but you lose the newer-version's features.

Adobe has several InDesign User-to-User fora; more resources include
www.indesignmagazine.com, indesignsecrets.com, and InDesign Talk list
from Lasso (search Google).

HTH

Regards,

Peter
