POSITION SUMMARY The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the corporate network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, and VPN. The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation and support of the information security infrastructure. Responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of network documentation including continuity and disaster recovery plans, backup and restoration procedures, maintenance plans. Some occasional off-hours work may be required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintain high level performance of network infrastructure through routine monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting. 2. Implement, maintain and recommend improvements to network security configurations of firewalls, IDP, VPN, and other network security devices 3. Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software purchases to enhance network and security operations. 4. Other duties as assigned. OTHER JOB FUNTIONS: 1. Represent Network Health at applicable activities including system user groups and other health data system organizations. 2. Maintain professional growth and development through self-directed learning activities and involvement in professional organizations. REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS: . Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related fields or 3 to 5 years equivalent work experience. . 5 to 8 years as a Network Engineer with enterprise level experience in LAN/WAN environments. . Network and/or Security related certifications preferred. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: . Demonstrated experience with Juniper and Nortel network and security devices including Intrusion Protection Systems, Firewalls, and Remote Access Technologies. . Experience working with Windows and UNIX operating systems and network applications such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, and SNMP. . Strong knowledge of security best practices and industry bench marks including familiarity with NIST, CIS benchmarks and other security standards. . Strong knowledge and skills in the following areas: o Network protocol and security analysis tools o Access control systems, routing protocols, and VLANs o Security technologies including IPSec, SSL, and VPN . Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to work independently and meet objectives in a timely manner.
