Well, I never post reviews, I guess because everyone else always does such a fine job, and well, you know, what good is my slanty opinion...Anyway, here I am on Slip tour, doing the coast, so I might as well speak up for a moment before again retreating into lurk for the next 5-7 years.  All I want to say is that Reed rocked!  I've been seeing these guys for yada-yada and this was one of my all-time favorites.  I don't think it was just the Pabst talking, although moments after rolling in I found myself shotgunning cans on the quad like I was Frank the Tank or something.  I'm not an old guy, but I'm no spring blue jay, and the Reed folk were well-prepared to party keg-style right there in the open.  Heady school for sure.  So, my juices were brimming out and it's show time..

Soft Machine started out and man, did you east coasters hear it?  The beauty of it knows no physics or geography.  This is my favorite of the newer songs, and I love that it's still in the works.  How hard is that slide guitar/voice thing?  Jeez.  I love it.  At that point, I began jumping up and down and didn't stop until the bitter end, which was Dogs on Bikes.  A very extended Dogs, too.  It was time to stop playing (as if such a time really exists) but Brad was not having it.  He had led the boys out somewhere from which some musical TLC was required to navigate home gently.  He came prepared.

There was all sorts of goodness n the middle there, some of my favorites:  that new gem Children of December, Built to Spill's Else, Yellow Medicine, a S-I-C-K Fugi, Before You Were Born, Sandman, forget what else, if anything.  I'm telling ya, this show, for those who love the raw ethereal rock that The Slip is capable of, is a keeper.  My tape got messed up, and I am so bummed.  So, please, when this gets out there, I NEED a copy.  I love it.

Eugene tonight, with the Ovulators opening.  Very much looking forward to finally checking these gals out.  Everybody stay cool over there on the other coast!  Peace.

Hey now, Slip-pery people --
No details on the Portland setlist yet, but I did get the source-lineage for the
recording, and it looks mighty sweet:
> Neumann KM-84's ORTF 110 degrees on stage >
> Graham Patten DMIC-20 digital preamp > DA-P1
I still don't have it in hand, but it will be spread as soon as possible. More
details as they come to me. Anyone who was there care to post a review? It's kinda
slow around here.
