As of now, things seem to be back to normal--as they should, both of my
SBTs now report Brooklyn NY as their location, and its lists of local
radio stations reflect that.

Yes; I have two SBTs, and both of

Done--thanks very much for looking into this!

Folks:
After many many months of success using them for listening to radio
station streams, my two SBTs now report (when I go to radio/local) that
they are located in Ashburn VA (we are actually in Brooklyn NY); when I
have them list local stations, it shows me stations in the Ashburn
area--it

Folks:
Thanks to your great info, I'm making progress :)! So far, I have:
-- bought and installed new powerline network adapters (the new ones
claim to have faster throughput rates than our old ones), including one
that my audio PC system is wired to;
-- updated my audio PC's LMS to 7.9.1

Dear SBT Community:
I have a few questions...
I own and use two SBTs: one I have been using (at my bedroom desk)
exclusively to play Internet radiostreams via its analog RCA audio
outputs connected to a pair of powered speakers. The one in the living
room--while sometimes also playing Web

Just a warning: have a backup plan and USE IT!!! You don't want to have

So far, I've been using my Touch in one room of my apartment, connected
to a pair of small powered speakers (and Ethernet-cabled to a small
fanless PC running LMS; a cheap wireless router is cabled between them,
acting as a sort of bridge by supplying the necessary DNS addressing),
to play music

One point. You don't cable the touch to the host pc. You cable the touch
to your router via Ethernet and you cable your host pc also to your
router. And then your touch talks to the pc via your local network.
AHA...
So, if I get another router (one independent of the one I use
Why?
[1] The spot where I want the SBT to sit is far enough away from my router
that I don't trust the stability of the wireless connection (based on my
experience with my laptop when I have it there); I want my listening to be
free from glitchy interruptions;

After some trial-and-error, I have gotten my SBT to play my library
drive's files using either my laptop or my fit-PC to run LMS--but only
via my wireless network (the trials and errors involved getting a valid
IP address into the SBT; I don't know why the SBT couldn't configure its
network

Please explain. Is service and unc Unix terminology? I'm not
Unix-savvy; I'm running Windows 7 Pro). There was a time when I had some
DOS chops, but they've atrophied as my gray hair came in :).
Folks:
I have finally assembled most of the gear for setting up my desired
music server system based around my SBT:
--a USB hard drive for holding my music files (the process of ripping
all of my CDs is ongoing; I'll purchase a backup HD soon);
--a fit-PC3 with Windows 7 Pro, with LMS

No, not that one--one that addresses the concerns of current customers,
as well as touting new products (or, in the case of the smart radio,
seemingly renamed old products).
Hey, I can dream, can't

I don't see any SB products on Logitech's site--however, FWIW, there is
what looks like a new product line--in it is the Logitech UE Smart Radio

First, how do you figure you have 1.5 TB of data? If you rip to FLAC

ridiculously cheap. But the drives could very well die before you get
As part of my Touch-based system, I'm planning to buy a large-capacity

First, just because the wifi in your listening room is iffy doesn't mean
you have to go with the Touch's built-in server (I'll call it TinyLMS)
and a directly-attached USB drive. The TinyLMS+USB drive approach works
for some and fails for others, but overall it has to be the

I am a new owner of a Squeezebox Touch. I've been happily using it for

SBT-based setup that meets my other listening interests and priorities.
