Amazing, really. You seem to already have experience in being a host?
Very smooth and natural flow of conversation between you two.

From the main system, yes. But the part that is not sandboxed is a whole

I believe we're talking here about "webbrowser", formerly known as
"epiphany", the own webbrowser of the gnome project.
I'm not quite sure but if you think about it, there is actually now way that
gnash can just "forward" the execution of the swf code since then gnash
itself would not be neccessary and the OS could just understand the code on
its own.
So gnash has to be some kind of translater or pipe and it

Well, you asked a question and I gave you an answer.

Then why would
"After all, how much better is a libre virtual machine running Windows than a

That's a false comparison. If I use the virtual windows machine for doing my

If a program was immediately excluded from the repo just because some user
has some problem with it,
then most likely there wouldn't be any program left.
How about just not using it?
Welcome back, Ali!
Great website with lots of inspiring content. Thank you also for creating
free software.
Congratulations, everybody!
You didn't give up and achieved something great.
I think just listing names won't do so much good here, we will just get a

So, I personally like the name "Convetina".

That's terrible.

Software Freedom is an important thing, but to some extent, you have to think
about yourself and your happiness.
For me, making a decent living and not being isolated from society are more
important than 100% software freedom.
That's why i don't refuse to use whatsapp on my cellphone, though I
In replicant, there should be an option to connect your phone as a "mass

You have to select this setting. Unfortunately, I cannot recall quite where

If this option is already set, you can do the following:

Let's also contribute what we can.

On top of that, I think we barely even talked. So why did you have this thought?

I highly doubt it. Look at this article:

It lists "eight things to do after installing opensuse" and

you gave away control over this data anyway and it doesn't matter at all what
You're making some valid points.
I don't think that the fsf should really "exclude" any of those distros or

There again you come with this "free software can't give you privacy" bs...
yeah you did a tcpdump and found some background chatting, which is not nice,
that's true.
Do the following:

2. do a sed replace for every unwanted URL firefox is communicating
Forgive me... now I can see the likeliness.

Yeah...of course.
That's so much nonsense that I clearly won't bother to argue. Just read
jxselfs post if you're really interested in it, but I guess you prefer to
defiantly talk back just for the sake of it.
So you completely ignored the fact that NOT attaching a license to a piece of
software is immediately making it non-free?
Well, I guess you have to ignore it, because it would make all the rest of
you agrumentation just crumble.

Let me get this straight:
Magic Banana writes a piece of software and releases it under the GPL, and
you accuse him of having a

Why should it matter where he releases his software?
Thank you both, MB and Onpon for the interesting elaboration on this whole
"lightweight program" topic. Though I already knew the underlying principles,
I never actively thought about what "lightweight" actually means.
But I guess the discussion is just wasting your time from here on...
Well, I guess that makes it sound a bit too simple.
However I'm also interested to know what's the major "blocking bug" that is
keeping trisquel 8 from being released.
Anybody got some info on this?
One way:
first remove vim (sudo apt-get remove vim).
Then compile the program with "make checkinstall". Maybe you will have to
install "checkinstall" first.
You will obtain a .deb file which you can install via dpkg.
Now the "vim" command should launch your compiled version.
Well, I will try to get back to the topic:
it depends on the level of privacy you desire. A VPN (I use NordVPN) is
normally enough for me.
Maybe it's an option to use VPN + Tor for smaller files and browsing, while
sticking with normal VPN for downloading large files?
I saw a lot of word-confusion in this thread.
Software freedom and privacy are conceptually different issues and should be
treated as such.
However, software freedom is a condition for privacy. you can't really be
sure to have privacy without software freedom.
If you feel that a piece of

I think it will not be so convincing if you just repeat what other people

Maybe you can find examples of absurd patents and

I wrote a little CSS snippet that makes the trisquel forum at least useable

All the site-admins have to do is copy the snippet at the end of the css

That's alright. Different viewpoints add to diversity.
"That's not source code."
It's the code that gets executed in your browser, and again, for the

to fetch, let's say, some posts from the database, this IS exactly what the
author of the code wrote.

Don't get me wrong, but you're saying this in almost all of your posts,

scan them briefly. Still I got this impression.
Maybe you're taking this whole age-thing a bit too important?
Can you checkout the access.log of the apache server or does your provider
deny you permissions to do so?
I think it was already pointed out, but all the .htaccess file does is
basically changing the config of the server on a limited scope without
touching the server config files.
That means that there is no way Abrowser is to blame for that.
Couldn't agree more.
Those can hardly be considered celebreties.
I think the starter of the thread thought more about famous politicians,
actors or singers...

Thanks.
Maybe you're right about my anger clouding my judgement and me projecting

Sorry but I can't stand this hypocracy any longer. On top of the lacking

I mean heck, most of the users of this forum don't even use trisquel but some
other distro.

You're right that my reply to you got downvoted, and it's also true that this

Why should we remove the voting system because of that?

It's a shame that so much work power is distributed over many similar

What I mean is:
Imagine the creators of trisquel, parabola, gnewsense and uruk would join
forces and produce one well maintained OS instead of many more or less
outdated ones.
What I'm going to say now is not limited to this thread / technoethical, it
is more of a general remark on several viewpoints that I've heard in this

The ideas / viewpoints i'm talking about include the following:

May I ask what kind of relevance this picture of young stalin has for this

"there was forum drama" is not expressing the abhorrent things that happened
in those threads properly; I think you're understating the issue.
Everybody can read and judge for themselves. If you still want to buy, go
ahead.
I will not.
I think you're drawing conclusions too quickly.
Maybe there are reasons why people don't like to contribute.
Not involving the community in decisions could be one reason. At least that's
what a lot of people here (like MangyDog) complain about.
Trisquel consists entirely of free software, so the dependency on one single
person could get rid of very easily.
Anybody can fork it and make a trinity community version, letting all the
members vote for decisions concerning the project.
Isn't this whole "Unix Philosophy" more of a relic from a time when
procedural programming was all that we had?
With the merits of object oriented programming, it is possible for a program
to consist of many loosely coupled components that to mainly one job and do
