I have the same problem with my Compaq V3000 laptop running Xubuntu
feisty + nvidia Geforce 6150 onboard graphics. It's very distressing
because even the LCD brightness cannot be adjusted (i guess this has
been reported multiple times). Perhaps it's time for it to be fixed
asap.

Mike, thanks for the testing. Yes, you are doing everything correctly. I
guess Xorg is so messed up already that it doesn't want to play with
gdb. Can you try (without starting gdb) to kill the X server with kill
-SEGV ? This sometimes forces a core dump. It might be that apport
interferes with

When I write an email, evolution replaces the email address with the name from
my contacts list if it can be found.
This is undesirable for several reasons:

I enabled edgy-backports repository which installed vim 7.0-164+1ubuntu6~edgy1.
Now, there's a security update with version 7.0-035+1ubuntu5.1 which is not
installed because the backported vim has a higher version number.

No my only issue was the renaming of my drives .
The machine is perfectly stable on 2.6.20-16.28 though i did get the
ghost cd rom (fstab entry as drive moved from hdc to hdb)
What would you like to prove that my ich6 was affected.??

You can check them out and see if you think they blend well together with
human. If think they do a pretty good job.
Anyway, in the process we fixed the names and made it all more themeable as
