Booted Feisty desktop live CD (media verified for defects) on my laptop

I end up in a busybox shell with the error message:
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
After some hours of googling I found a way around this. I basically add
break=top as a kernel

This bug is fix but the message it really exist :
No theme index file in '/usr/share/icons/sun-java6.png'.
If you really want to create an icon cache here, use --ignore-theme-index.

The real solution would be some file monitoring thing, as mentioned in
the upstream bug. But a quick fix for the problem at hand would be just
to check if the file still exists before launching an application to
open it. I think this would not be hard to implement. If the file does
not exist
