I don't know the value of xineramascreen. I'll have to single step the
code, as the value is optimized out at the point where the program
segfaults.
But xscreens is a pointer to a XineramaScreenInfo structure, and the
pointer value is NULL, so screen[0].x_org is also invalid.

Hmm... I just took a more through look at the code, and it seems that
the code where gdm crashes should only be executed if XineramaIsActive
returns true. So as far as I can tell, one of three things causes the
problem:
1) XineramaIsActive falsely returns TRUE, even though no Xinerama support is

Hi!
I was able to resolve the issue by lokking at one of my old bugs (bug
#75814).
I have added blacklist ata_piix to /etc/modprobe.d/localhost because
with kernel 2.6.20 it delayed booting.
After removing that line and updating the initrd my system is able to
boot gutsy with kernel 2.6.22.

Hi, I have fixed my problem.
First, I must state that I upgraded from feisty. It was not a new installation.
I deleted the directory .gconf/system/networking from my home directory. This
is what seemed to be causing the problem.
And then make sure the /etc/network/interfaces file has
auto lo
I've now been using my patched version of less for almost a month, and
so far I haven't found any side-effects. Could this please get merged?

I realise this is user error, in giving the blocklist importer a bad list, but
it shouldn't cause a complete crash.

Same problem under Feisty using a Samsung SH-S182D. Usually, it starts
burning DVD's with 8x, then drops below 1x and finally stabilizes at
exactly 4.0x. I've tried several types of DVD's and settings in K3B, no

I have tested this with both the -rt and -generic kernels and with and
without Nvidia as the display driver (in case it was some kernel module
craziness). The result is the same in both, although turning off Nvidia
causes the length of timeof contiguous high network activity needed
before a hang
I suppose this has been fixed already. I can install, remove and purge
version 1.02-2ubuntu2 without problems.

I've been waiting to report this just to make sure, but the problem has
disappeared since a kernel upgrade from a couple of weeks ago. Since
then, I get perfect (faster than with 2.6.20) access point associations.
As far as I'm concerned this bug may be closed.

Can you try to start firefox from a terminal with the following:
MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1 firefox, this should fix it. For some reason
pango-rendering does not work well when words to be rendered are
containing
