I am having this problem as well since I upgraded to ubuntu 8.04.
I have several USB storage devices (LaCie 1.5TB external hard drives,
several usb flash pen-drives) and they do not automount after the
upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04. I can mount them from the command line with

The upgrade I was referring to was the upgrade to 2.6.24-17.
Once I discovered the problem I rebooted and used the 2.6.24-16 kernel with the
same result.
So it may well be that the upgrade to the 2.6.24-17 changed the check box Hide

Not fixed for me. :( I thought the same as I updated to the new

When I say I modded the patch I actually added the bits that didnt work
manually.
I have remade the patch from the original using diff and just tested it on a
fresh ubuntu source and it patched fine with the correct output.

[hardy] Starting up a
Same problem over here. Dragging files from one nautilus window to
another (or to/from the desktop) crashes the system. This occurs with
Ubuntu 8.04 and the latest updates as of today (4. June 2008). However,
if I turn off Desktop Effects, the problem goes away. Is it linked to
Compiz or not?

Hi Leann,
I'm also suffering these problems. I had a working Gutsy which I
upgraded over the network with the update GUI.
I cannot boot the new kernels at all, I am having to use the old one
from Gutsy. When I turn off ACPI per your instructions above and boot
from the new kernels, it boots,

The code in question is no longer present. The migration-assistant
portion of ubiquity now only imports to the user created on the Who are
you? page. I therefore believe this bug is fixed and am marking it as
such, but if you are able to reproduce it in 8.04 please feel free to
