I had the same issue. I built OpenSSH from source and still had the
problem. I installed the latest updates and the problem is gone. I don't
know which of the updates fixed it - none of them seemed obviously
related to ssh. Here are the versions of OpenSSH the updates that

I can confirm the bug with instant preview not working, where lyx leaves
the following error message: failed: gs 0lyxpreview.ps. I have a
candidate solution/workaround, see below.
Note however that the ps file LyX created in /tmp was fine in my case.

Most likely to avoid accidental touchpad movements while typing on the
keyboard (as most touchpads are located under the keyboard, which might
lead to palm contact).
I don't think the mouse delay is a good solution to that problem. And
most laptops nowadays align the touchpad to the spacebar

It's a shadow problem. kwin seems to be trying to add a shadow to the
mplayer plugin that is running in the browser. I assume as it's not a
normal window it gets messed up with the placement.

After the incident and its fix, I had the automatic run of fsck on the
30th login - and it failed. It seemed to need to do a lot of fixing on
the filesystem.
I am reminded of a problem that another OS used to have - it would
switch off the power before everything had been written out
