I'm now in Hardy and the problem still exists.
Using GuestMouseOff On and a lot of tweaking in the other Synaptics
settings gets it to where it mostly works, but when someone is used to a
laptop that really works and they try to use my machine for a minute
they quickly give up in disgust unless I
upstream refused the idea of this feature (because there is no way to
say that a pc is internet connected), so I stopped developing the

The bug is not printer-specific ; I am able to reproduce it with my HP

By my understanding, the section of documentation was removed. Setting this

I'm having this problem as well.
When setting VirtualBox to use alsa, all pulseaudio applications stop working,
but alsa applications are still fine.
On the other hand, having VBox use pulseaudio causes all all alsa applications
to stop working, but pulseaudio apps still work fine.

Steps to reproduce (in Kubuntu hardy)
- make sure you have a testuser with a home director,y e.g. sudo useradd
testuser
- delete his home directory: sudo rm /home/testuser
- Open KDE systemsettings, go to user management.
- click on administrator mode,

Adding the change to ~/.asoundrc worked for me. I have Sound Blaster
Live! 24-bit ( CA0106 ) working in 7.1 through alsa in Hardy.
