I just tested with the above patch to /etc/init.d/openvpn. This solves
the problem, the boot is not interrupted.

After updating the kernel, vga=792(1024x768) mode is fixed for me.
According to the version history, the kernel developers addressed this bug in
the last kernel so I think it should be fixed for everyone.
Note: I still can't use vga=795(1280x1024, see the misc section at the

I am not so sure whether splitting the dialogs is such good idea, and I
never considered the old dialog particularly busy. Anyhow, I understand

This camera still does not work under the new kernels.
I can get it recognised using this procedure:

But I get green video now. But at least the camera is recognised by the
system.
