Is this ever going to be fixed for the stable release? The repetitive
error mesasges about /proc/*/net/if_net6 came to my attention while
looking for something else, which led me to this bug. It seems to have
been first reported for a version that's still in Ibex, though there's a
bumped version
ack nomination as SRU candidate. Once we have confirm that the patch
fixes this, we should upload to -proposed too.

This was Dapper. I have since rebuilt the server with Intrepid roughly
following the Ubuntu Server Guide and did not have this problem.
However, the last I knew, my hack to the init.d script to munge the

I also found that:
- different usb drives can show different problems; some is bootable and some
(old?) isn't.
- some (old?) motherboards (Asus P4PE for ex.) can not boot from usb drive, if
filesystem is not FAT16.
usb-creator not give me option to select a filesystem when it formats clean usb

and with nvidia driver 177 and 173 (Nvidia 7600 GTS).
But my personal imepression is that X server crash less with nvidia driver

I upgraded to Intrepid recently and noticed that X did not behave properly when
I did not have the power supply attached to my Thinkpad T60.
The symptoms:
- if I boot the machine without the power supply attached, X never starts. I
just get a dark screen and I get a [fglrx]

Does the tooltip appear as soon as you scroll or have you to hover the mouse
over the applet icon ?
With Feisty I did not have to hover and so avoid to interrupt what I was doing.

Because this bug results in an error message on disconnect, it attempts

The RTL 8102E doesn't have a native driver under 8.10. Instead the r8169
module gets loaded, which may be the cause of your issues. One solution
is to compile a driver for RTL8101/8102 using sources from Realtek.
