Still on the live cd I noticed something even stranger now:
I removed hunspell-en-us (but have hunspell-de-de installed), thereby removing
language-support, and logout and login. Now, openoffice still claims to have
spellcheck for English (USA) by showing the spellcheck icon next to the
Adam: by disconnecting reconnecting, or uninstalling bluez, you reset
the device to work in a legacy compatibility mode (the BIOS linux wil
see it as an USB keyboard mouse). The result is that you can't use
bluetooth for e.g. connecting to your mobile phone.

Even with the change in the Nvidia driver, my screen is still set to the
wrong resolution (the real one is 1440 x 900, as opposed to the 1368 x 768 -
