Sorry my last post was so sloppy Micah. Somewhere in there I mention I
tried a new profile. It did not help when I did. Took me some searching
ti find out how to put in Terminal. Still used to windows.

library is missing, the program crash, but apport dont catch anything,
and if you only reproduce with GUI and without terminal, you dont see
the error.

If my understanding is correct, and if there is a good reason to enable
randr by default, (as it has been done, I suppose there is), perhaps a
fix could be to give the user a way of disabling randr.

Since yesterday an the last upgrade with kde 4.3rc2 KDE is acting weir.
It just get stuck for some seconds without doing anything. One
consequence is that I cannot luanch any application. It seems to start
(you can see them in the taskbar and the mouse does use the small
Boinc registers itselfs in the menu under Applications-Systemtools-Boinc
Manager (in german: Anwendungen-Systemwerkzeuge-Boinc Manager) which
seems to be quite inapropriate to me.
Boinc has nothing to do with my system, it's just using its resources (like
any other application does).
the GNOME session is GNOME as indicated, .xsession is used when you
select the user session

It seems there are two parts of this bug:
1. not KDE-specific: extremely low delay value for repeating multimedia keys.
This happened to me after upgrade to Ubuntu Jaunty without KDE.
2. probably KDE-specific: multimedia keys not assigned by default.
