I've done other tests...and it seems that the issue goes away simply restarting
some times gnome-power-manager...
In addiction I've discovered that if I connect and disconnect ac adapter while
I'm on the terminal the laptop doesn't go into stand-by, but as soon as I
switch to GDM it goes on

external monitor, you get a black screen no matter even if you use X
(also with X off, from a virtual terminal). Obviously it does not matter
whether compiz is on or not.
The problem, at least for my toshiba m400 is in the KMS
I know that at least rhythmbox (the music player I use) plays very well
over plain ALSA all day long. But totem just fails silently (no pun

I did a clean Install today and all my errors are gone. Sound and Touchpad back
again as used to. Until now no errors found.

@Dave: Input layer is not guilty here. A release event for the dev2 is
not being sent, so the buttons sticks. This is a bug in the Alps driver.
Exactly, that's how I meant it. The driver doesn't translate all packets
into the input layer. Only 3 event are generated for those 4 packets.

Maybe it´s just a server problem, but I can´t connect to the server to use

I can use the Internet page, but not the ubuntuone applet.

No reference to 1rott13.zip exists anywhere in the spim source package.
Did you perhaps install the game rott at the same time? I see a bug
report in Debian about the rott package trying to download that zi and
failing for the reason you outlined.
