I found out what the problem was/is. Because this modem also has a
built in SD driver, ubuntu doesn't see it as a modem until I 'eject' it
first. So I have to type 'sudo eject /dev/scd1' first of all and after
that, I can use network-manager to connect.

I can finally say that there is no bug (or maybe yes :-S) at
libfontconfig nor ia32-libs packages. Moving out $HOME/.fontconfig and
running skype again got it working.

Yes, this happens every single time. Select connect to server to connect to
an smb share, then
uncheck enable wireless (or wired) from the connection manager. Then click
the eject button on the share in nautilus, the share will not unmount. I can

I'm affected, too. For me the Bluetooth applet icon gets doubled. I have
to remove and re-add the notification panel on every reboot, it's very
annoying.

Is it possible ro produce what you need just with booting from an
install-USB? I ask because I really don't want to reinstall Karmic
Development version 2.29.1 contains the fix for the GID is 0 on start
problem, and also prevents you from choosing already used GIDs when
creating/editing groups.

A (ugly) work around is to use the loopback pre-up script.
/etc/network/interfaces:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
pre-up /path/to/script
That way I was able to change my MAC address before the ethX get up.
I think this could be used to load firewall rules as well.

there is no nmbd running on my system. The logfile tells me that the daemons
