Trash applet sometimes shows wrong icon when is not empty in Jaunty
FYI, the clamav folks said this is just what the sendmail-supplied
libmilter(?) library does. Hence, they pointed me at sendmail support.
sendmail doesn't seem to have publicly accountable support, just a
black-hole email address. I did report the issue to them, but they
didn't respond.

I experience the same on my Dell 1501, but only if the battery is
inserted?!? remove the battery from the system, everything boots fine in
about 22sec. I've now installed bootchart to get some informations what
is hanging if the battery is inserted.

Well, bug #72468 was marked as fix released on 2009-02-27 but antonioni
opened this on 2009-05-24 (on the same distro which should not be
affected by the issue) . So we could suppose that bug #72468 was wrong
marked as fix released (however, personally, on Jaunty, I haven't ever
been able to
To me it's still not really clear why the installer (as well as gparted,
as it seems) hide the devices, while I can access them via Nautilus in
the live system. I did not try writing, though. This confused me a lot.

Update:
Shut down the computer, cold re-boot: same orange streaky lines on
panels.
Turned off visual effects completely (system preferences
appearance): no more orange streak.
So I'm somewhat happy (though I would like to (have kept) keep some
visual effects... :-/ )

Just to update, I've tried several other drivers with different results.
None give me a fully working tablet.
The closest I can get is working click/movement but pressure doesn't
work. This was using linuxwacom-0.8.4-4.tar.bz2 with patched wmcUSB.c.
And X also crashes if you unplug it.
...and Launchpad has promptly taken out all the extra spaces.
Wonderful.
Hopefully the attached file will be easier for everyone to read (it
opens in gedit on my Karmic 9.10 system)

I tried your method, but it make the modem unrecognized. Please note
that this modem have same vendor id and product id for both USB mass
storage and for Modem, thus make usb_modeswitch unuseable.
I must eject the USB storage, modprobe, then the modem recognized. Can
you explain more
Urgh, a new kernel can sometimes take very long to get into the official Ubuntu
repositories.
Although I wonder if the problem with AR928X adapters not being able to conduct
regular wireless activity and scanning for new networks concurrently is a
driver issue or the adapter's inherent fault.

I think i also have this problem on my ext hdd (freecom XXX) when i try to run
karmic from it. Tried the daily build (301209) of lucid but the same happens.
The strange thing is that it works without a problem with karmic on my
usb-stick (cruzer) on the same laptop.

After a few more cycles of debugging, it appears that mountall is SIGSEGVing
when the remount of / to rw occurs.
You can test this by changing grub to mount the root device 'rw' instead
of 'ro' and mountall no longer fails.
