Yes, as stated in my original comment, it is reproducible (myself and
Dustin Kirkland), with variants of while true; do sudo multipath -F;
sudo multipath -v4 ; done.
All that is required is a device that multipath will create a
/dev/mapper entry for (use_friendly_names or not) and remove with -F
I am seeing similar issue on Lucid.

This happened during a live upgrade - that is, with the GUI upgrade tool
included in 9. After rebooting into 10, I was able to successfully

In the long run, the solution is to have freshclam use a helper
application. The helper application would run unconfined but would only
run stuff that is in those directories, and the main freshclam binary
wouldn't be able to write to those directories.

I have finally physically got to where the machine is and rebooted it
after making the changes to /etc/pam.d/common-auth. This has solved the

I tried all the setups suggested but I still can't get any notification
of pending updates
* with auto-launch = no and regular_auto_launch_interval 0

Upgrade to Lucid and noticed the same problem, not only in gedit but
also in other gtk2 text widgets (wxwidget which use gtk). No normal X
selection / middle mouse to paste behavior.
I guess it is Gtk2 bug
