Mekan, I original used this solution before using usb-modeswitch,
however it had the side effect of not loading any USB storage devices.
usb-modeswitch works, but since using it, the connection is unstable on
an e1550, requiring reconnects and replugging in the device.

I partially solved the problem - I booted from the prior kernel version
2.6.32.23. It Restored my sound, eliminated my pulseaudio problems with
Skype - I'm a happy camper again.

I've just run a clean install of 10.04 to test this again and you are
correct, GEdit does allow the page setup tab to be used. However, tried
with Eye of Gnome and the problem still exists.

no_proxy environment variable, that in Lucid has a trailing comma.
Wget gets confused by that comma.
