Didn't work for me too. I have a 10 GB free unallocated space and
choosing the alongside option, ubiquity wants to resize another
partition.
It would be great if some developers could explain the criteria adopted
by ubiquity besides this installation mode.

Ubiquity doesn't suggest to install
I sent apport again as i am currently suffering from partial GUI lock-
ups while sending files to NFS Server. My experience is that Nautilus
stalls, panels are ok but take ages to react to mouse clicks, etc. All
new Nautilus windows open after 2-3 minutes after clicking on them.

I've fixed this bug by turn off the Maximum Windows Management in
start-up apps list (by Ubuntu Tweak).

behavior which isn't taken by plugins like unity. That's why you don't

I read somewhere that different configurations/ GRUB boot options are
passed by default depending on the hardware (something to do with a DMI
list) e.g. i8042.noloop or similar is passed for laptop class machines
but not desktop.

This is easily reproducible when sending a lot of big files (+50-600MB)
to low bandwidth NFS Servers (WLAN,DSL, etc).
Another thing is that while I was Sending files to the NFS Server, I
tried to copy files from a Samba server and got the error message File
Descriptor error or something like

I think I have solved the problem partially. I have edited
/etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub and /etc/kernel/postrm.d/zz-
update-grub files as root and disabled the line exec update-grub by
prefixing it with #. Then re-run the Ubuntu Update Manager, this time
it succeeded all the updates.
I attempted a basic un-install and re-install and it appears to have had no
effect and the list of packages install is the same before un-install and after
re-installing.
I will attach the list of packages installed when gscan2pdf is installed and
also when it is un-installed.

visual glitch on launcher icons after mutter / unity has been running for some
time
And no sooner do I say that than I wake up to find that gwibber is gone
again, but gwibber-service is still there, sleeping with a waiting channel
of poll_schedule_timeout. Sorry. At least the time between failures has
increased.

Someone over on the nvidia forums kindly suggested installing 256.53
from the nvidia repos. That has me up and running. I have no idea how
this affects further Ubuntu updates, however. The Additional drivers
tool still says (version current) [Recommended], which seems

a search for contacts ist performed. At least on german desktops, when

After modifying forks.pm to output the $PORT in the croak at line 2126
and 2131, I could confirm it was not a reserved port. I then realized
that my firewall was blocking the connection (127.0.0.1). I disabled the

The settings menu is in the application place. you should explore unity
a little and you will see the file place, the application place and all
the dash when you can find anything by just searching it.
(it's called system in unity and merge the preferences and
administration)
