Building vgabios from source as described above added the missing modes
for me too. But still the vga driver does not work properly - it builds
the screen very slowly line by line and takes 20 seconds or more just
for the login-screen.
After some hours I gave up on vga and switched to the

this seems to be an issue with your board, on the supported ubuntu
architectures native installation of mono packages works fine (there are
surely plenty issues with applications, but the breakage you describe
above observed in VMs yet) all our images build fine and install the
mono dependencies

The test failures that I saw were caused by running the build step as
root. I didn't think sbuild did that, but apparently it does. When I
build inside a clean chroot as non-root the build seems to work fine.

I don't think this problem is related to big-endianness. I just had it
on a x86 system that was upgraded from feisty - hardy - lucid. In my
case the fix was simple: apt-get install seahorse-plugins. For whatever
reason that dependency doesn't seem to be pulled in when you upgrade.

A-ha! It's not the dac driver. It's the apparmor driver. 'grep
apparmor /var/log/syslog | tail' gives me a bunch of:
