Title:
package mysql-client-5.1 5.1.49-1ubuntu9 failed to install/upgrade:
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/my_print_defaults.1.gz',
The build status is Failed to build, but I fairly sure that an update
to 5.1.54 would fix this issue.

In my experience (running Ubuntu 10.10 with evolution 2.30.3) - remove
the evolution-indicator package. That seems to be the only difference
between Evolution on Fedora and Ubuntu.
I've got no problems with Ubuntu, Evolution and Exchange 2003 now :)

FWIW the OpenSSH configure script indicates that ECC only needs OpenSSL
0.9.8g.
I think this GDB session is probably a red herring due to the way sshd
re-execs itself.

Please support libkibi [1] for displaying sizes.
SizeToStr (in apt-pkg/contrib/strutl.cc) should be modified to call
kibi_format_size or kibi_n_format_size.

The error message David quotes is defined in step 4 of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#removing. However, The Ubuntu
desktop system is the title of ubuntu-desktop, and that is supposed to
be special-cased with its own error message in step 3. So, that much is
a bug in USC.
Removing
Input/output errors are typically physical hardware problems. Canonical
can't do very much about this. On occasion they may be kernel bugs,
which are not my area of expertise. In any event they are not installer
bugs.

This seemed to work on Friday (28th Jan), but doesn't work this morning
(31st Jan), and the kernel looks like the only related package I updated
since then.
When I dock my laptop this morning, it locks up completely with the
