I'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 64bit, but installer fails every
time. On a related note, I also tried installing Debian 6 and its
installer also gets stuck in Scanning disks... every time. So, I tried

certainly not a software center bug. Today I started the Live CD and a
few other apps were not being started either and also you cannot change
the icon theme from the default gnome one. So I believe there is a
problem with gnome-setting-daemon and such. this bug is just a cause of
that. though SC

I havent seen a fix but... I also can fix the issue to some degree.
For the person with the distorted view, changing to zlib (+xor) solves that
interlaced look
also, i too can effect the desktop now by disabling the xwin desktop effects
entirely
however i now get terrible color artifacting
