I've been running with intel_idle.max_cstate=0 enabled for over a week
now, with no recurrence of the earlier crashes, so I can recommend this
as a workaround for anyone with similar problems.
One odd side-effect: When I run the battery all the way down, where the
laptop would usually either

The only way this could happen is if we don't enter this loop:
for jobid in xrange (self.fetch_first_job_id, last_jobid + 1):
and the only way I can see of that happening is that last_jobid
self.fetch_first_job_id.
But the only way I can see that happening is if CUPS returned a job

Breaks Alt and Control
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

Can you try install the package poppler-data and try to open the
test pdf with evince again?
For the record, language-selector in natty now installs poppler-data
for CJK.

Most ugly is the broken failsafe graphics at this problem, you only have
a working console to fix something. Here with a juniper 5750 the
failsafe graphis is restarting in an endless loop.

It seems checkbox has a deficiency in that you aren't given a proper
title for the test so that you can refer to it as something like
'alsa_record_playback_internal', but instead have to call it 'the

regression in window list
xterms works perfectly well for me and I can't reproduce any of the
symptoms. Would be most odd if this was GPU related (i have an i945
here).
@Fabien: Do you have some non-standard xterm config or something that
may trigger this?
