Ouch. The behaviour has changed. I tested extensively prior to
submitting, however, after making the following two changes things seem
to be working again:
1. Close VMWare Player (suspending Windows VM) and restart (resuming VM).
2. Suspend laptop overnight.

Yes, I can reproduce this crash with some kde workspace applications
that use the soprano library (kactivitymanagerd,
akonadi_nepomuk_contact_feeder, nepomukserver). I did a local rebuild of
soprano using the gcc/qt4 versions that ship with natty and the problem
was fixed.

I find a way to get it back.
Please, follow the steps:
1) install hibernate if not already done: sudo apt-get install hibernate
2) check you have a swap partition large enoughs (depending of your
usage but the RAM size is quite good)
3) find the swap partition UUID: sudo blkid | grep

Just a quick update on this bug for anyone wondering. I almost had a fix
but got stuck trying to check if a Gtk widget is shown at any given
time. If anyone knows how to do this I can maybe complete my branch and
submit. Otherwise I'll keep looking and trying.

Here's some additional information:
The message actually refers to failed startup; this seems to be because
the shutdown leaves it in an invalid state. When it's in this state, the
BIOS loading screen comes up briefly, goes away, and comes back - hence
the failed startup.

I don't think this is a bug, I may have answered one of the prompts
incorrectly. It would be nice to have a better explanation, and perhaps
solution to the issue displayed after failure to install though.
