Was playing in Stellarium.. locked up. Forced to hard reboot, and now I get
three lines on the load screen and the last one reports some error I can't read

Not a bug in plymouth; plymouth only displays the message, it doesn't
control the boot timeout.
Upon upgrading to Oneiric, booting now has a ~60 second hang.
