I resolved this issue completely by installing kernel 3.0.0.12 from kernel ppa
and enabling KMS in Lucid.I enabled glasen ppa and update all packages except
intel driver from this ppa. I installed only intel driver from x update ppa.
thus i completely solved this.

I have a ThinkPad W500 with switchable graphics, that is, with two graphic
chips:
- ATI FireGL V5700 [mostly the same as Radeon 3650]
- Intel GMA 4500MHD
In the BIOS you can select whether it should enable only one of them and
which, or activate both and let the OS switch them on and off. Since
dh_translations needs to figure out the gettext domain from somewhere.
Right now it does not do a deep file search of any potential build tree,
but we can add that.

I can confirm heavy problems with oneiric. My Laptop (Lenovo X201s on a docking
station) is connected via display port to a 19 Dell screen. This screen stays
black when I activate it via gnome or fn+f7. Sometimes (i.e. not reproducible)
the screen gets a signal after multiple rounds of pressing

I never knew that a ubunturelease-proposed repository could have kernel inside.
I just rebooted into the 3.0.0-12-generic kernel and it works ! So it seems to

let me summarize my testing. Theese are all kernelpanics i get while using
Ubuntu 11.10. Every panic has a picture.
3.0.0-11.18 = no panic after (3-4 days of testing)
3.0.0-12.19 = panic (3-5 days of testing)

Back in time gnome has the ability to place an icon in the gnome menu to
show progress. I am unable to find how to enable this feature when using
Unity. I have tried white-listing backintime in the tray white list
but this does not work. I do not see any messages in
Removing an old DSL connection from /etc/network/interfaces fixed the
problem for me. I also removed it from the network connections GUI along
with some other connections that I haven't used in a long time.

It still does not work: if I select Ubuntu as session, I just get the
background image and the mouse pointer: no menus, windows, or anything.
Clicking any of the mouse buttons does nothing.
Then I switch to a console, set DISPLAY to :0 and try to start unity. I attach
the console text.
It hangs

[unity-2d] I have had a look in System Settings Keyboard Shortcuts
and found that under Navigation, Hide all normal windows had a shortcut
of Ctrl+Alt+D set. However after disabling that shortcut I still find
Ctrl+Alt+D shows the desktop and Super D does not.
