When I create a custom dialog in GTK (both, GTK2 or GTK3) and set it to
be modal, all input to other windows of my application is ignored. This

I tried sudo apt-get install nis nfs-common on a 12.04 cloud instance
and got a hang on Setting up nis (3.17-32ubuntu4.1) This looked
like it was hung on a start ypbind command. Killing that gives me
similar results.

strange one. Every morning when I plug in and boot up my computer,
ubuntu cannot connect to the wireless router. It searches, then asks for
the wireless security key indefinitely. I can reboot as many times as I
like and it doesn't connect. The only way to get it to connect

OK, I got brightness working (thanks to mdelfede) on my G75VW with
Ubuntu 12.10 and Nvidia 304.50, but should also work with ubuntu 12.04
and Nvidia 304.48:
First I added this to my /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

I don't want to upgrade to 12.10, halt -p and adding acpi=force does
not work, also I am not able to switch to console mode ( Ctrl + Alt + F
X ). My laptop is a Dell Latitude D830 with Quadro NVS 140.

I am a bit puzzled. I have tested up to 3.5.7 including the mainline 3.5.5, on
which the quantal kernel is based, without encountering this error. But looking

First of all: I'm sorry, I made a spelling error. The error message says
/dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root and not /dev/mapper-vgubuntu-root. So this
is not the source of the problem.
