I noticed that I do get audio over hdmi when I close the laptop with the

Cool stuff. I've never looked at PCI IOMMU traces before.
I don't see anything obvious when looking at those traces though, so
we're probably looking at some type of chipset bug here.
I guess we're down to trial and error then? I e, try random changes to
stuff that win7 does but we don't (or the
i wanna upgrade kubuntu to new version 13.10 (from ver 12.10)

If my Thinkpad T440s is connected with the docking station and the audio
cable is plugged in the dock there is no audio output on the speakers.
If I connect the audio cable directly with the Thinkpad I can here the
audio output.

The bug with the volume control dissapears once music is stored for it
to find in the music folder. I re-booted the computer, re-launched
Rhythmbox and the volume was just as I left it. I have no idea why the
program would not remember the volume setting before the music folder
was populated but
