sorry for the late response.
Since the issue was on my work machine, I was regularly looking for a solution
and didn't miss a BIOS update.
It did not solve the issue.
In May 2013 I bought a Corsair Neutron CSSD-N240GBGTXB-BK and dd'ed the
complete image from the Intel device onto
Christopher, I've just tried the live image again and the cursor still
jumps/jerks around a little more than I would like. It is however
better than in 13.10 (but not as smooth as Windows 7)
I would therefore suggest that this bug report gets left open for now
until others can confirm the bug.
Removing the offending file:
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/20_xubuntu-default-settings.gschema.override
solves the problem. Yeah, I know it's not a real solution ;-)

Last missing piece (after hacking around kernel issues) for me in getting
hybrid graphics working was to change this line in the hybrid-power script to
match my eDP panel:

I seem to have gotten the usb stick into unbootable state (ran out of
space on the cow filesystem in the middle of kernel installation...)
I'm attaching the kernel log and the Xorg log recovered from the casper-

I got the same error message when following the steps to reproduce this
issue on Ubuntu Trusty.
I also noticed that the attachement was not flagged as a patch, so I've
checked the patch flag for it. In the future

following up on #32, I may have been a little premature the mouse is
still a little jerky, but better than Ubuntu 13.10. However, it could
still do with some tweaking to be as smooth as Windows 7

I saw the same warnings when installing freecad on Ubuntu Trusty, so I'm
marking this as confirmed. However it doesn't seem to be blocking
installation as the freecad was installed and started when I launched it
here.
Please try the package in precise-proposed. It already contains the fix.

As Emmanuel says, is working on 13.10. I use ibus for Spanish (dead keys
for accents) and CJK. This bug should be closed.
