I copied the specified firmware. Restart the computer.
Successfully connected to wifi, but then nothing works.
Maximum that was possible - it will connect via ssh to my local server
for a while - then the connection broken.
$ dmesg | grep rtl

Found a fix for me.
I narrowed the 'malformed file' error down to grub loading the grubenv file.
I experimented a bit, deleting did not help, but setting a default entry seems
to fix the issue for me:
grub-set-default Ubuntu
I installed using FAI if this helps finding the problem...

After this discussion (and some other customers/users requests on the
same bug), knowing that the 1.6.5 backport was not eligible for a SRU
(just like Steve pointed out) I started to cherry-pick code from openafs
1.6.5 to openafs 1.6.1, so the openafs dkms module was able to compile
on HWE

Whole lot easier for me: Install Google Chrome for Linux.
Google Chrome works just fine for me. Chromium does not.
A screw up on burning flash might kill the netbook.
Best thing for me is to use Google Chrome instead of Chromium.
