One of the packages which are required by OpenVSwitch is:
openvswitch-datapath-dkms
But the 3.11 ubuntu kernel is not compatible with that package. You have to
install openvswitch-datapath-lts-saucy-dkms instead.

Another try this time I bumped the timeout just like you advised.
However instead of 90 seconds I set it to 120 seconds. I hope it isn't
overkill.

The workaround is to not use light-locker for screenlocking, as it does VT
switches.
Killing the other xserver process obviously won't help, because that's where
the (lightdm-)greeter sits that is expecting authentification.
