I have the same problem. I installed the newest and updated Ubuntu 14 on my
Vaio S series two days ago.
The screen lock worked fine for a couple of times , but it froze after auto
locked out today.
After locked out, I can not see the password promt . Mouse still worked
Alt-Ctrl-Del bring
As explained above, the problem is fixed.
What is planned for the correction ?
- only a work around as described by david wood (2014-10-18)
- correction into Trusty and/or Utopic and/or Vivid

There could be a timing problem during session start, so I suggest that
you add a small execution delay to the autostart entries.

For the record, it's totally possible to use pip without gcc. You only
need gcc if you're going to pip install something that has a C

The apn setting is taken from the settings I used with an earlier
Huawei modem (E392) that did work on this computer.
I have indeed tried the present modem on a windows machine to verify
that it worked at all. I just tested again, and managed to get a 4G
network connection using online.telia.se.
I can confim this, too.
Machine is a Toshiba Satellite C850D - 119.
Windows 8 has been pre-installed. The regular user isn't satisfied, so a Linux
install was desired. Nevertheless, Windows 8 will still be required. The
regular user is of very poor computer know-how, so dual-booting via the

package openntpd 20080406p-7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess
installed post-installation
Just created an arch VM and twinkle works fine on arch using the qt3
package. ( You have to build the qt3 package and twinkle ) but this is
straightforward. Just have a few cups of coffee whilst qt3 goes through
all the compiler warnings.
The arch build files just work for both qt3 and twinkle
I had this problem from day one after I loaded Ubuntu in 2012. So it did
occur prior 14.04. The problem improved over time, less missing
characters. Howver it evolved a bit, now sometimes it produces multiple

happens when
I still have this problem on Ubuntu 14.04.1 (originally 13.10).
I have the same .desktop files as Luigi R (comment #95), I haven't changed
anything in them.
