It has to be requested first for the current version of Ubuntu (which is

A quick patch (a really quick workaround) attached - it probably messes
up broadcasting when the ibus is *not* installed.
But it fixes the double broadcasting in the default install.

file, which is a text file. So any editor will do.

If I boot normally, I can use my keyboard in GRUB to select boot
options. If I then boot into Xubuntu (14.04.2), the keyboard and mouse
