I don't know how long it's been there for as it's hard to notice, but I
noticed it a few days ago, there seems to be a grey border on the top
and right edges of my screen in the same kind of colour as the
login/locked screen for GNOME. As can be seen in the attached

it were only that simple, I would submit a patch. And it has been two
years now, counting this bug report.
The problem is that unity-control-center somehow gets several strings
(usually titles) from /other/ programs such as

A calibration step in libsane's genesys_gl124.c measures the average
illumination (line ~3062) and then uses that value in a division on line
~3090.
The divisor would probably never be zero if your scanner is working, but
if the LEDs are not turning on then all bets are off!

When I download something in Firefox and it completes, the blue arrow
animated image shows and stays over the toolbar indefinitely. As other
things change (causing parts to rerender) in the affected area, that
portion of the image goes away.
This occurred in FF 47 and now

depends on whether the repository's history contains commits with gpgsig
