Its been a while, I looked into it for an electrical engineering friend.
I cant remember exactly what the workaround was.
I believe he switched to using USB 2.0 ports. He also might have used a
different USB 3.0 adapter.

X.Org Server 1.20.1 crash when I attempt to enter special symbols like @
> " via onscreen keyboard Onboard in Gnome Shell Xorg session. I also
noticed this with DRI3 (both of default modesetting DDX and intel DDX)
issue is more easily reproducible than with DRI2

Whenever I log into my computer I get a message telling me that there
was an error. Also, a long time ago, grub stopped working. Whenever I
booted my computer, it went straight into ubuntu, without going through
grub first.

On cosmic as of 2018-08-29:
qemu-system-$arch packages appear to Recommend qemu-system-gui.
In turn, this means qemu-system-gui pulls in libgtk-3-0, which will pull
in icon themes and all kinds of other things that probably shouldn't
