With Michael's help, I could get the right key for the kernel.
I updated the new key and then tried booting to signed kernel in secure boot

Sorry, that wasn't a better description. When i rightclick on the Bose
SLIII and click pair, the 3 bar graphs appear momentarily, then
disappear again, and thereafter "pair" is greyed out on the rightclick
menu. i guess that means it did pair properly. But doesn't appear in
pavucontrol.

And apparently I solved the mystery. As a desperate attempt I changed
the refresh rate of the from 59.xx Hz to 60 Hz, and Xorg stopped
crashing coming out of suspend. I suggest giving it a try. Note: I do
not know why the screen was initially set to 59.xx Hz.

Started just having this issue yesterday for chromium and discord
installed as a snap after running an update (on focal)

Got it, the legacy hda driver found the dmics on your machine,it aborts
the probe, but the pciid is not in the sof driver, the sof driver is not
loaded.
You could workaround it by adding "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0"
in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf temporarily. I will
