I can confirm that release "3.38.4-1ubuntu3~21.04.1" of "gnome-shell" and
"gnome-shell-common" packages has solved the issue for me, tested on kernel
5.11.0-19-generic on my Lenovo Yoga 7 laptop.
The fix solved the issue in "Ubuntu on X.org" but also, and more importantly,

So just deleted those files, and now update-manager works fine.

Hi,
'compiz --replace' didn't work (no display), so I had to kill -9 gnome-session
also this time.
Applications running at the time of the freeze were:
- Firefox
- Chromium
- Thunderbird
No LibreOffice

No duplicate of bug #728101 for me: it doesn't happen (only) when closing lid,
but also just leaving the laptop alone for enough time; it happens to me 1-2
times per day, after the upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04.

las week I upgraded ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04, and then installed 2 new hard drives
and built a new md0 RAID1 array by means of mdadm, defining also a new
mdadm.conf with just one line for md0, and a new entry in fstab for the mount

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
It happens as first output after the initial Starting up..., with a timestamp
around 1sec.
