I am having the similar slow printing problem with a brother printer on 14.04 LTS Desktop 64-bit. A 180-pages print job with some colored screenshots (Samsung TV manual) needs 2-3 hours on Ubuntu but only 13 minutes on Windows 10. Now I am having brother error ts-02.
