I have a Canon DR-2580C. If I scan at anything above a –resolution of
240 my attempted scan fails with:
scanimage: open of device canon_dr:libusb:001:012 failed: Invalid

This problem does not exist on 12.04 but does on 12.10 and 13.04. I have

I can confirm that even though I choose ignore on the CA Cert dialog,
the line system-ca-certs=true was added to system-connections. It
works find after I set that to false.

I am unable to replicate this using a clean install. Did you have the
PPA gstreamer or other related repository enabled? You may need to clean
up your PPA repositories and then reinstall necessary software.

I believe I was able to resolve my problem by muting all sounds within
Pidgin. It is probably important to note that every other application on
my laptop can play sound without crashing my system. Hopefully this
helps you as well.
